Blue Heron PTA is proud to honor Kari Strand as our February Volunteer of the Month. Kari has been a huge help throughout the years (6 to be exact!) with varies events at Blue Heron. She is always there helping at our Halloween events as our resident Sugar Witch. She also donates her time & talent every year at the spring Dance and provides a nice picture to everyone attending. Thank You Kari!!
Read below on why Kari volunteers at Blue Heron
How long have you been volunteering at Blue Heron?
Why did you start volunteering at Blue Heron?
To help give back since Blue Heron Elementary has done so much for my kids! And I love kids!
Why do you feel it is important to volunteer?
It takes a village! Not only do my kids benefit but so do the rest of our students, from parents volunteering. Kids copy what we do in life and to have a positive adult as a role model is priceless!
What is your favorite thing about Blue Heron?
The teachers, paras, SPED and ASD. They go above and beyond for our kiddos and my family and I are very fortunate and grateful for what Blue Heron Elementary has provided for us.
What is your favorite part of volunteering?
Having fun and getting to know all the other students at Blue Heron. We have a great bunch of smart and creative kiddos!
What is your favorite way to volunteer (event, project, etc.)?
I enjoy planning and helping out at the PTA events. My favorite event is a tie between the Fall Festival and the Father/Daughter dance. Halloween is my favorite holiday and since I am a Boy Mom, I really enjoy taking photos of the girls with their dates all dressed up. Frilly, sparkly and girly things are hard to come by at my house!
What’s your favorite family pastime?
We love going to the train museum, toy train expos, and going to the movies. And of course, we are avid Fortnite players!
